Euro Watch: Standard bounce back from defeat

The Champions League Group Stage is underway. After one match Arsenal are already top of Group H, which features AZ Alkmaar, Olympiacos and Stadard Liege

AZ Alkmaar 0-1 NEC Nijmegen
Saturday, September 19

Dutch champions AZ suffered a 1-0 home defeat against NEC Nijmegen at the weekend. The game remained goalless until, with three minutes remaining, Lorenzo Davids put the visitors ahead. Alkmaar are currently sixth in the Dutch Eredivisie table with 12 points from their opening seven encounters.

Lokeren 1-3 Standard Liege
Saturday, September 19
Standard bounced back from their defeat against Arsenal with a 3-1 away triumph over Lokeren in the Belgian Pro League. Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez gave the visitors the lead after 11 minutes, but five minutes later Sulejman Smajic equalised for Lokeren. Standard responded quickly and the Rouches were ahead again just one minute later through striker Dieumerci Mbokani. The points were sealed on the 25-minute mark through Brazilian Felipe.

PAOK 1- 2 Olympiacos 
Sunday, September 20

Olympiacos ran out 2-1 winners in the Greek Super League on Sunday. The visitors were behind after a Vieirinha strike just 10 minutes in, but Brazilian Diogo levelled the scoring four minutes before half time. Olympiacos left it late to claim the three points, Avram Papadopoulos winning the game in the last minute.
