Malky's given us confidence

WATFORD defender Lloyd Doyley was part of the back four praised by boss Malky Mackay in his interview after Saturday's 3-0 win over Scunthorpe United.

Not only did he help maintain the Golden Boys' clean sheet but Doyley was close to netting his first ever professional goal that afternoon, but his effort sneaked unluckily past the post.

"Unfortunately I pulled it wide, but I'm quite happy with the effort to be honest" admitted the defender.

"In training we practice shooting everyday and the boys are always urging me to score, so I'm trying that little bit harder in the matches to get it!"

The Hornets had their foot on the throttle for the full 90 minutes as they stormed past the Championship newcomers, who they had previously overcome 1-0 last year in the third round of the FA Cup.

"It's good result for us" said Doyley.

"After going 2-0 up in the first 25 minutes, it meant we had enough time to relax into the game and play our football.

"Winning 3-0 in the end was great, and I think it could have even been more considering the chances we had."
